Bamboo for Good

Bamboo is committed to supporting organizations that make the world a better place.  Through Bamboo for Good, we donate 5% of any profits we earn to charities that matter to our customers.

We offer a rotating list of charities that is carefully vetted by Bamboo's management team using resources like GuideStar and GiveWell.  The rest is in your hands.  At checkout, you can choose which charity you want your purchase to support.  Each month, we split 5% of our operating profit (if positive) among the listed charities in proportion to our customers' selections.  If we don't generate positive operating profit in a given month, we instead donate a fixed percentage of revenue using the same process.  For more information on how Bamboo for Good allocates funds, please reach out through our contact form.

Currently, our default charity selection is GiveWell's Maximum Impact Fund.  To learn more about the Maximum Impact Fund, please see below.  If you'd like Bamboo for Good to add a charity that matters to you, please contact our team!

Available charities:

GiveWell Top Charities Fund: GiveWell is a charity research organization that uses rigorous analysis to find and highlight the most effective charities in the world.  GiveWell is known for their clearly written and highly transparent research, which we encourage you to check out here.  The Top Charities Fund is disbursed to GiveWell's top charities.

WIRES: WIRES (Wildlife Information, Rescue, and Education Service) is Australia's oldest and largest wildlife rescue organization.  WIRES has cared for Australian animals in need for nearly four decades, and played a pivotal role in saving & treating native wildlife during the Australian bushfires of 2019-20.

City Harvest: City Harvest is New York City's largest food bank.  Over 1 million New Yorkers face food insecurity, including 1 in 4 children.  City Harvest tackles this problem by rescuing more than 100 million pounds of food each year from local donors and delivering it to hundreds of soup kitchens & food pantries around NYC.
